The Women's Center is under the auspices of the Campus Life Office and the Associate Dean of the College.
Program Interns for Fall 2009:
Sarah Muenzinger '10
Sarah is a Sociology major from Tarrytown, New York. Her interests include feminism, music, theater, writing, and social activism. In working at the Women's Center, she hopes to help foster the community of women here on campus, and to facilitate discussions which can address the unique issues and experiences faced by women of every race, class, and sexual orientation. She encourages students to come and stop by during office hours and to use the space as both a resource and as a place to discuss and brainstorm ideas of all sorts, from ideas for programming to abstract ideas and big projects.
Jaleesa Johnston '11
Jaleesa is an Independent Comparative Ethnic Studies major from San Rafael, California. She has been very active and involved with the Campus Life/ALANA Center and various student of color organizations. She is currently on the committee for the Women of Color Alliance at Vassar and hopes to increase collaboration between WOCA and other organizations in the ALANA Center. Jaleesa views the Women's Center as a communal space in which everyone is invited to come, share their ideas and have an active role in deciding the organization and function of the Center. Aside from school involvement, Jaleesa also enjoys writing poetry, drawing, painting and running.
